No. There was a serious fault and I had to replace the iMac. This was my experience - yours may be different.

I've had a similar issue since installing Security Update 2020-004, Security Update 2020-005 didn't help, but Security Update 2020--006 made it much worse. After installing Security Update 2020-004 I could at least work 15 to 40 minutes between display blanks, but now after installing Security Update 2020-006 the display will black out after just seconds of being on. I've found I can use my HDMI TV as a display thru a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and while my iMac's display will black out the HDMI TV stays on. Oh wow, turkusista, dimming the screen down to 2 bars lets the display stay on. I'm glad I found your comment.
I installed Macs Fan Control - a free app and the problem has not occurred in the last month. I set the ODD to Auto, HDD is "Based on Ambient" and CPU is also "Based on Ambient" crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control

SAme problem appeared for me recently. I dim the screen down to at least 2 bars and it works fine. I think its overheating problem.
I installed Mac Fans Control - free app - crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control and set the HDD and CPU to "Based on Ambient". I have not had a recurrence of the problem so far. I can also have brightness set to maximum.
@@JohnMee it works for me too! I'll have to reapply thermal paste in the long run and clean it inside for better ventilation. Thanks for your tip.

@@JohnMee Macs Fan Control hasn't helped for me. I've actually had MFC running for years now after my original AMD Radeon HD 6970M went bad and I saw some posts about bad solder being used, keep your graphics chip cooler to prolong life. So this all started happening while having the ODD Fan running faster than normal.
@@JohnMee Are you able to sleep/shut down the mac and it still start up okay with MFC? Just installed but am a little worried in shutting down my Mac

Working find haha i runnin on my Thinkpad R52 and the configuration it's really really terrible, but with a one core and AMD graphic x300 (weeekkk) running well on a external HD, on a native hd this distro really wanna run fast, but anyway running ok
Outtakes Of Life Of A Sad Man Thanks for the replies. I have Mint 19 Cinnamon running on the i5, 4gb Ram, 320gb HDD (non SSD). Seems fine. Maybe a little slow, but doubt that's the distro. An SSD and some additional Ram should sort it. Only driver issue I've encountered so far is not getting sound through the mini displayport, which I have connected to a TV via an HDMI adapter. Can't remember if my t430 has an nvidia card, I think it does. Tried a few things but no luck so far. The sleep button also doesn't work, but wakes from sleep after open/close the lid is fine.
@@jarrahfitzgerald2752 Hi....just checking...did you open the sound settings and choose the HDMI sound instead of the speakers? If the HDMI shows there, it should work. Sometimes you might have to switch over and then back to make it work. But it should. I use Mint 19 as my daily.
Antix 17.2 full work fine on my IBM TP T40, it's based on Debian stable. Kernel is 4.9.x.

Your right Michael, ya know what they are giving out about now ? We got washing powder sample and a diswasher tablet and they are going mental because its sexist ! I never heard the likes of anybody begrudging a bloody free sample of anything. Im glad to get a fairy detergent liquid sample .. they buy bloody washing powder in anyways ? If we had received bloody moisturiser they will complain AGAIN. sick and tired of all these so called offended women .... I am a woman and I am happy to get a sample of anything. Hi there i have a hp laptop with intel i3 1.70ghz 8gb ram nvidia geforce 820m 1gb and 1tb disk with windows 10 and i write linux mint 18.1 in a disk and i complete delete windows and install linux mint as main os !! NOW MY PC IS VERY FAST I DONT KNOW WHY BUT IT IS FASTER WITH LINUX THEN WINDOWS ! I Recommended Linux Mint for all!!

Do you need to manually install all the drivers for the laptop under Linux? So that for example the wi-fi/ bluetooth will work, and the monitor resolutions will be properly recognised? And the sound drivers? That's the part that's not clear to me. Or you just plug that stick in and everything kinda works automatically?
To the best of my knowledge, the installation picks up and instalsl most of the drivers needed. If it needs to, it will go online to download the latest drivers from a Linux repository.
***** Oh I see. That would make things immensely easier. I guess now I just have to figure out whether I will go ahead with ubuntu or Linux Mint.

I purchased this very laptop this week. with the default OS installed from Lenovo. as an example of hidden sluggishness, the desktop seemed to run well enough, fast. Minecraft ran 30-40fps. dipping to 20 only during loading. acceptable for such a low price aged machine. BUT. I was shocked soon enough. I downloaded a win7 lite version, stopped of all the bull----. after a fresh lite install, I was seeing nearly constant 60fps. I was very impressed with the hardware, and confirmed yet again about the trash they pile on with the OS. after installing optifine, I could turn up a few settings and I was shocked and awed again, I was seeing 90 fps with some jumping to 120fps. I cap the cap at 40 fps with the options. it runs super smooth. beyond my expectations for a 200$ portable Pc. ONLY if you fresh install win7 lite.

Excellent software but Google's decision to make the Nik suite free almost certainly means they will no longer develop the product.

+Kameel Huseffi When you get it set up like this, there is an icon on the desktop that will guide you through the process of installing it onto the hard drive. When this install process is finished you will be able to remove the USB stick.

Hi Everyone,Just to let ya know I had the intermittent connection to my wi-fi,considered returning my HTC One x phone for repair,i have a netgear DGN1000 router,works fine with my laptop,ipod,and everything but my phone,I went on my router smart wizard and upgraded the drivers (click router upgrade)and bingo ,faster than usain bolt now,its worth trying that before returning for repair or shelling out fore a new router with up to date drivers
i think it is a problem with the one x connectivity in general, it has happened once to me in 2 weeks where my phone has 4 bars and a 4g connection but it says it cant access network and to either turn on the data network or wifi when they are both already on
I have since got a replacement HTC One X but the problem is still there. I bought a new router and the problem is solved. My old router was a Netgear 108 Mbps Super Wireless ADSL Modem Router DG834GT. My replacement router is a Belkin N300 Wireless Home Network Modem Router. So I guess the HTC One X has intermittent connection problems with SOME routers.
I have the same problem. I´m connected to wifi and i can see the ip-address but i can't browse the internet. But weirdly e-mails come thru the same wlan...
